Greetings friends of Petlamb

Welcome to December's photo of the month — Water Damaged Pencil of Nature — Plate IV.

William Henry Fox Talbot's original Plate IV from Pencil of Nature is an image called Articles of Glass. It depicts three shelves showcasing various shaped glass goblets and decanters. It is a very formal image and Fox Talbot describes the work thus:

The photogenic images of glass articles impress the sensitive paper with a very peculiar touch...

He then goes on to describe the limitations of this "new" process due to the varying sensitivities of the process to different wavelengths of light.
